From Time Out Film Guide

An animated version of Hans Christian Andersen's story about a tot who wants to pick on someone her own size. The doe-eyed dame is whisked away from her dream prince, and suffers the predations of villainous low-life offering marriage and more: ugly Berkeley Beetle, an immature runt toad, an entirely unsuitable bachelor mole. Twittering in and out as Thumbelina's helpmeet is an annoying cartoon Frenchie, Jacquimo, whose rendition of Barry Manilow's 'Follow Your Heart' keeps her pure and true. Broad-line animation with little facial expression and poor lip-synching. For girls under 12 only.
