Tiger Bay (1959)
Director: J Lee Thompson
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Young Hayley Mills made her screen bow as the Cardiff dockland stray, Gillie, who spots Polish sailor Buchholz killing his faithless girlfriend, then protects him from the law, in the mackintoshed person of Mills père. The storyline may be synthetic (co-scripted by producer John Hawkesworth from Noel Calef's novel Rodolphe et le Revolver), but the players are strong and affecting, and director Thompson makes the most of the grungy locale.Author: TJ
