Tombés du Ciel (1993)
Director: Philippe Lioret
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A socially concerned comedy tailor-made for the hangdog persona of Jean Rochefort. A well-to-do iconographer (Rochefort) is trapped in the transit zone of Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris, where he meets and gets to like a wacky band of displaced persons. Making their households in the corridors, engine rooms and back exits of the airport are a kid from Guinea, an ex-mercenary, an Ethiopian who speaks only an ancient lost language, a political refugee, and more. First-time director Lioret tackles the clichés head on, and thanks to fine performances creates a likeable if lightweight romantic drama.Author: WH
