Top Dog (1978)
Director: Feliks Falk
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This enshrines a brilliantly loathsome characterisation by Stuhr as the provincial entertainer driven by the sweet smell of success as he wheels and deals to achieve his pathetic goal of becoming MC for a gala inaugurating a new hotel. The political parable is neat enough as his power plays are scrutinised in vivid detail, but also pretty facile. Satires digging at the state through representations in microcosm became a dime a dozen in Eastern European films around this time.Author: TM
