All-singing, all-dancing Joan is a Broadway musical star whose tantrums cause her accompanist to walk out, only to be replaced by blind pianist Wilding, whose criticism of her professional standards tempers her growing romantic attachment to him. All's resolved, however, in a plot development of such gob-smacking trashiness that it needs Crawford at full tilt to put it over. With MGM welcoming the star back with full honours after a 10-year absence, this toweringly nutty melodrama should prove irresistible to fans of the bigger-than-life star.Author: TJ
