Lamb (Neeson), a Catholic priest teaching at a grim remand home for boys on the Irish coast, focuses his charity upon a young ten-year-old (O'Conor) who is subject to fits. When left a small legacy, he takes flight with the boy to London. Alas, as the money slowly runs out, the little good they had between them is threatened by a sordid and uncaring city. Taken from the novel by Bernard MacLaverty, the film very movingly achieves many of those things which are often so difficult in cinema. A portrait of goodness, religion at work, and a multi-faceted view of human character. CPea.Author: CPea
