The Last Waltz (1978)
Director: Martin Scorsese
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
An embellished record of The Band's farewell concert, mostly shot at San Francisco's Winterland in 1976, on a set borrowed from a local opera company. Largely wonderful music, a stage crowded with guests from Dr John to Muddy Waters, and consummately stylish film-making. Scorsese intersperses it with fragments of interview, shot around pool tables and in bars, treating Robbie Robertson and the others for all the world like refugees from one of his own movies.Author: TR
