With Duigan directing a script by his sister Virginia, there's a whiff of indulgence about this backstage drama. A new play, 'The Hit Man,' is in rehearsal in London. Its author, Felix Webb (Wilson), is conducting a clandestine affair with ingénue Hilary (Newton), and he'd leave middle-aged wife Elena (Galiena) like a shot, if he thought she could handle it. Enter American movie star Robin Grange (Bon Jovi). He's the play's lead, but slyly offers to double as the wife's lover. Thisis watchable, but old hat. Duigan makes only token stabs at satirising the luvvies, despite the copious egos on hand and muted support from such troupers as Warner, Humphries, Hodge and Quick.
