The League of Gentlemen (1960)
Director: Basil Dearden
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A terrific caper movie, adapted by Bryan Forbes from a novel by John Boland. Hawkins is at his gruff best as an embittered ex-army colonel who assembles a seven-man team of similarly disgruntled former military men to execute a million pound bank robbery. Plotting and direction are as rigorously organised as the operation itself, making this a crisply enjoyable picture with typically excellent character playing from a lovable set of old lags.Author: TJ
