Letters to an Unknown Lover (1985)
Director: Peter Duffell
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Based on a story by Boileau and Narcejac (Les Diaboliques, Vertigo), and it shows. In occupied France, an escaped PoW pretends to be his dead friend in order to take refuge with two beautiful sisters. But things, inevitably, are not what they seem. Duffell contributes strong atmosphere, disturbing nuances, and wins some fine performances (particularly from Andrea Ferréol), but the thriller aspect (not too far from The Beguiled) could do with tauter direction. Interesting, nevertheless.Author: GA
