Love in the Mirror (1999)
Director: Salvatore Maira
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
This slick, glossy Italian costume drama is heavily laced with exposed (female) flesh, sex, sinister intrigues and somewhat facile philosophical musings on life's relationship with art, namely the theatre of a commedia dell'arte troupe led by the appallingly dubbed Stormare. Galiena's his leading lady and wife, jealous and vengeful over his attraction to ambitious and scheming new thesp Cavallari. Meanwhile, besides trying to keep the marital peace, he's putting on an innovative production which he hopes will win him the patronage to perform at Versailles. Po-faced and pretentious, heavy on female hair (pubic and permed), and really memorable only for some ingenious scenes involving weird stagecraft.Author: GA
