Set in a full deck of CinemaScope Hong Kong postcards as an American journalist and a Eurasian doctor lady wallow in an ill- fated romance conducted in pidgin poetry ('Sadness is so ungrateful'). With that title and an Oscar-winning theme song, what did you expect?
