Love the Hard Way (2000)
Director: Peter Sehr
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Brody may have been great as Polanski's Pianist, but in this slick, English-language, NYC-set cautionary tale (from a novel by Wang Shuo), he hasn't much of a chance. He plays a hustler, con-man and all round jerk who seduces and begins to ruin the prospects of a brilliant young student. She can't let go, and he won't let anyone near his secret sensitive side (he wants to write a novel, natch). A Beauty and the Beast fable of innocence and experience, it's irritatingly obvious and superficial.Author: GA
