A fable about love, movies and the love of movies, After Midnight is set in Italy's National Museum of Cinema, whose obsessive custodian (Pasotti) has become as mute as his beloved silent pictures. After a woman (Inaudi) hides out at his work after a violent incident, a love triangle involving the duo and her boyfriend develops (can you say Jules and Jim?). Unfortunately, the movie is weighed down by a few more precious conceits than any lighter-than-air love story should be asked to support.
