With Friends like These (1998)
Director: Philip F Messina
Movie review
From Time Out New York
It's hard to say if this film—being released seven years after it was made!—is supposed to be a comedy or a drama, since it's neither funny nor moving. What is clear is that it's a grindingly boring tale of a down-and-out actor (Costanzo) who has a shot at a dream role in a Martin Scorsese film, if he can only can keep his similarly desperate thespian friends from stealing the part. Both Scorsese and Bill Murray show up in small supporting roles. Perhaps premillennial jitters clouded their judgment.Author: DD'A
