From Time Out New York

If gaming is about playing, why would a gamer want to watch movies like this? Based on ID Software's first-person shooter hit, this gory Aliens redux pits future marines, led by the Rock, against mutant monsters on Mars. There's lots of back story about a long-dead supercivilization; the mysterious "ark," a wormhole connecting Mars to a spot in the Nevada desert; and marine "Reaper" Grimm (Urban) and his history with the current Mars colony. But the plot boils down to this: Guys with guns kill scary things, except when the scary things kill them. Sorry if that spoils the suspense.
