Movie review

From Time Out New York

This Indian-American coproduction must have seemed like a good idea on paper: A bitchy American B-movie starlet named Marigold (Larter, of TV’s Heroes) travels to India and finds herself cast in a campy Bollywood song-and-dance extravaganza. She lip-synchs (in Hindi)! She dances! She has love scenes with hunky superstar Salman Khan! (He plays a Rajasthani prince-turned-choreographer.) Larter is a good sport about it all, but she can’t prevent Marigold from wilting: Neither a clever send-up nor an artful tribute, it’s cheap, imitation Bollywood.

Posted on Aug 21 2007 19:39 Hats off to the cast and crew who worked very hard at blending the best of both worlds ! Indian actor/ veteran Salman Khan has once again given an excellent, realistic portrayal of his character and Ali Larter deserves kudos for stepping into a world uknown to many of her peers in Hollywood. The most compliments should go to Willard Carroll and his fellow producers, who succeeded in the mission of bringing this film to the screen, facing many challenges & delays along the way, but ultimately bringing us a product that conveys many message, like, as long as love and respect exists among your fellow man, life can open up a lot of opportunities!
