From Time Out New York

Strange Culture follows the ongoing legal battle of artist Steve Kurtz, who, in May 2004, called 911 when his wife stopped breathing and ended up being detained by the government as a possible bioterrorist. Kurtz—per advice from his lawyer—can’t discuss certain aspects of his case on camera, so a variety of actors convey the legal and ethical details in his stead. Although disturbing, the doc seems to overstate the dire condition of civil rights in America; the idea that the government is specifically targeting Kurtz for his lefty views seems a bit far-fetched.
