Why Did I Get Married? (2007)
Director: Tyler Perry
Movie review
From Time Out New York
Faulting Tyler Perry for his nonsensical, melodramatic plots is a little like accusing Douglas Sirk of using too much color. In this soaper about four couples in various states of marital discord, Perry leaves the Madea padding behind; the fat enhancement is worn by Jill Scott, who finds the love of a good man in the Rockies. To the writer-director’s great credit, he actually seems to like his characters, especially the women—which can’t be said of most men who don fat-female drag. But note: Five cast members in Perry’s film have appeared on the CW’s Girlfriends, which, now in its eighth season, tackles the same themes with far more finesse and intelligenceAuthor: Melissa Anderson

- Posted on Nov 03 2007 21:03 Like the other Tyler Perry films and plays, I did not like this one either. I don't like any film that constantly slaps me in the face with messages. I like subtlety, and being able to think about the messages; not have them thrown in my face all during the film. I have much respect for Perry, but I'm just not a fan of his films.

"Why Did I Get Married" still provides laughs and good times. Universal issues, black-american cast, nyc see it....you won't regret the 10 bucks.
