“It’s Battle Creek all over again!” exclaims Flakes owner Willie (Lloyd) when a corporate competitor opens up a rival novelty diner across the street from his breakfast-cereal bar. Fortunately for Willie, his surly, aspiring-rock-star manager, Neal (Stanford), won’t let the business go down without a fight. Neal’s task becomes treacherous, though, when his well-meaning girlfriend (Deschanel) joins the enemy in an attempt to force Flakes out of business and make Neal concentrate full-time on his music. Some cute moments pepper the inane plot, but Flakes doesn’t have much snap, crackle or pop.Author: Drew Toal
