Superhero Movie (2008)
Director: Craig Mazin
Movie review
From Time Out New York
The problem with films like Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans (if you don’t count the sexism, homophobia and lack of funny jokes) is that they try to make fun of everything. Craig Mazin does a far better job of staying focused. Aside from a Tom Cruise YouTube gag, the director aims almost exclusively for making fun of Spider-Man and, to a lesser extent, Batman, X-Men and The Fantastic Four. Those are pretty easy targets, but the cast sells the material, and it’s fun watching Drake Bell, as nerd-turned-superhero Rick Riker, find new variations on his mugging double take.Author: Hank Sartin
