Tashan (2008)
Movie review
From Time Out New York
Smitten with country girl Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), Mumbai player Jimmy (Ali Khan) agrees to give English lessons to her boss, flamboyant businessman Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor), in hopes of spending time with her. By the time Jimmy realizes Pooja is a heartless femme fatale, he’s helped her steal $250,000 from Bhaiyyaji, who turns out to be a vicious gangster; the double-, triple- and quadruple-crosses soon begin. Vijay Krishna Acharya’s nutty mix of Tarantino-style attitude, Leone-esque gunplay, Hong Kong–influenced action and musical numbers has tashan (“style”) to burn.Author: Maitland McDonagh
