“It’s not easy being God!” the supreme being (Kapoor) declares, after singing a song with his pretty angels in Heaven and deciding to send Geeta (Mukherji) to Earth in order to unite a family. Mukherji is splendid as the mischievous nanny who transforms the lives of her four charges and their staid guardian Ranbeer (Khan). It’s a skilful bolly-blend of ‘Mary Poppins’ meets ‘The Sound of Music’. Combining superior CGI effects, top-notch animation and live action, this musical entertainer charms with its witty script, endearing performances and its theme of redemption, forgiveness and atonement achieved via love and fun. Kohli’s unsentimental direction results in a magical technically-polished universal crowd-pleaser which can rival any recent Disney fantasy. Best of all: GOD is an Indian!Author: Anil Sinanan
