Movie review
From Time Out New York
If this French anthology of horror toons proves anything, it’s that (a) Gallic animators have mastered the art of using stark, black-and-white graphics to stunning effect (see also Persepolis, Renaissance) and (b) these types of multidirector, mix-and-match affairs always end up a mere sum of their scattershot parts. Ironically, it’s an American contributor—alt-comics bigwig Charles Burns—who gives the film its highlight, a creepy tale of collegiate entomology, true love and transformation. Everything else is comme ci, comme ça.Author: David Fear
