Movie review
From Time Out London
Kylie Minogue cameos as herself in this stylish and soulless Bollywood aquatic adventure. Set and filmed mainly in the Bahamas, it follows the paunchy Sagar (Dutt) and pal Aarav (Kumar) as they attempt to recover lost loot from the 1949 shipwreck, ‘The Lady in Blue’. Before they take the plunge, they indulge in a boxing match, ride their fast cars and bikes, romance bikini babes and dance the ‘chiggy-wiggy’ with ‘an exclusive girl in an exclusive nightclub’ (Minogue). Technically accomplished, the film lacks tension and genuine emotions. ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ Oscar-winner AR Rahman’s tunes invite us to ‘drown into the music’ but this disposable soundtrack will sink. The underwater sequences are novel for domestic Indian audiences; global fans may leave the shallow proceedings feeling like the title.Author: Anil Sinanan
