Violette et François (1977)
Director: Jacques Rouffio
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Cashing in on the powerful combination of crime, passion and conjugal bliss, Rouffio has his young couple (Adjani and Dutronc) resort to shoplifting, a practice which keeps them in bohemian comfort and stunning clothes. Typically European, it's superiority they're after, not just shekels. Accordingly they display an in-bred aristocratic anarchism, have madcap adventures, and do cutesy things. All this is silly enough and not unfunny, but François' growing angst and his (sadly) unfulfilled suicidal urges destroy the last vestiges of irresponsible charm.Author: JS
