Viva Erotica! (1996)
Director: Derek Yee, Lo Chi-Leung
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
One of the first mainstream movies tailored for 'Category III' (adults only) release in Hong Kong, this opens with a wildly orgasmic sex scene between Leslie Cheung and Karen Mok and ends with the cheering sight of an entire film crew working in the nude. In between the two it's a not-very-sharp satire of the Hong Kong film industry, centred on an art movie director with two flops to his name (Cheung) who wrestles with his conscience as he shoots a porno movie for the money. The mix of parodies, sentimentality, melodrama and earnest pretensions never really gels, but the overall anti-moralist thrust is decent enough.Author: TR
