Not Another Teen Movie (2001)
Director: Joel Gallen
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
The natural habitat for gross-out humour is the classroom. Buff jock Jake (Evans) bets he can transform 16-year-old misfit Janey (Leigh) into a popular princess by prom night. Cue sketches oozing references to Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club, Grease, The Karate Kid and other contemporary rom coms. Despite spot-on pop video visuals and soundtrack, this rarely offsets grossness with wit, and the lurid opening American Pie scene can't outdo the tongue-in-cheek original. Suffer through the flurry of incest and loose-bowel gags, however, for a few great bad-taste laughs: a cheerleader with Tourette's syndrome; Janey serenaded with an Aerosmith song, to shocking effect.Author: AHa
