Not As a Stranger (1955)
Director: Stanley Kramer
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Typically well-meaning slice of Kramerkitsch, based on a bestseller by Morton Thompson (what else, with that title?) about a medical student (Mitchum) driven by a sense of vocation which makes him use people - notably de Havilland's improbably blonde Swedish nurse - with the kind of alienating selfishness that means his comeuppance is on the way. The exceptional cast helps to while away the platitudes and pieties, provided you can accept the likes of Mitchum, Sinatra and Marvin as somewhat wrinkly students.Author: TM
