The Eve of St Mark (1944)
Director: John M Stahl
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Maxwell Anderson's blank verse play, a Broadway hit, comes over on screen as a slightly artsy WWII flag-waver, as GI Eythe survives conditions in the Pacific campaign with the help of Midwestern sweetheart Baxter. The treatment of familiar material is more sensitive than usual, but some of the ambitious dialogue sticks in the craw.Author: TJ
