Every Day God Kisses Us on the Mouth (2001)
Director: Sinisa Dragin
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
A little like Béla Tarr on speed, Dragin's second feature charts the corpse-strewn path undertaken by an habitual killer after he's released from prison and returns to his village, family and butcher's job. Dumitru (the delightfully hangdog Condurache) sometimes puts up with all kinds of affronts; at others, he just loses it - killings apart, however, he's basically a good sort. Bible-black humour, flashes of lyrical fantasy, elegant b/w digital camerawork, lovely performances, and Dragin's confident handling of the elliptical narrative make for a fine movie, at its most charming in depicting the friendship between Dumitru and a boozy cop.Author: GA
