The Walking Dead (1936)
Director: Michael Curtiz
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
No great shakes in terms of plot - Karloff's wronged innocent, executed for murder, returns from the dead to wreak vengeance on his persecutors - but Curtiz' fondness for the heavy shadows of Gothic expressionism, and Karloff's characteristically committed performance, lend this moody chiller a welcome touch of class. Mystery of the Wax Museum it ain't, but for all the creaky clichés of the story, it still generates the odd frisson.Author: GA
