Warriors of Virtue (1996)
Director: Ronny Yu
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Stuntmen in kangaroo suits knock the stuffing out of one another. Yedidia's the kid with a gammy leg who disappears down a whirlpool when he's bullied by schoolmates, only to wake in the magical kingdom of Tao - a land whose harmony is threatened by the rampant ham of MacFadyen's warlord Komodo. Only the reunion of the five Warriors of Virtue, super-marsupials using the power of the elements to defeat their enemies without killing them, can save the day. Hong Kong director Yu's flashy combat sequences and the fairytale production design by Eugenio Zanetti unfortunately count for little when the exposition holding it all together is both cluttered and hamfisted.Author: TJ
