Kennedy is very nearly at his tongue-in-cheek best in this Western which affably carries on the mood and manner of Hawks' El Dorado. Wayne and Douglas play the old friends from way back, one hired to kill the other but joining forces - along with a pleasingly motley band of helpers - to turn the tables on the villainous Cabot with a handsome profit on the side. 'Mine hit the ground first' Douglas boasts as they simultaneously out-draw two opponents. 'Mine was taller' says Wayne laconically. No masterpiece, but very engaging.Author: TM
