Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

Despite the come-on of the English title, not a sex pic but a long, lugubrious, and finally quite engaging black comedy in which a woman believed dead these two years (Sjöblom) suddenly descends on her bored but relatively peaceful holidaying family. Now a hooker by trade, she organises herself a procession of paying customers, and for her daughter a financially beneficial line in 'amateur photographers', while downtrodden dad mends the roof and gets the drinks. Her plots founder on young love, but there's a suitably murky ending. Slow and sometimes predictable, the film often commits virtual acts of aggression on its characters and actors in an attempt to exact humour or pathos; nevertheless Halldorf does manage to take it towards a bleakly amusing analysis of family relationships.
