Dangerous Moonlight (1941)
Director: Brian Desmond Hurst
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Splendidly slushy World War II melodrama, with Walbrook an angst-ridden Polish pianist torn between success in America and death in the skies above beleaguered Britain. Hurst, the wild Irishman of British cinema, proves surprisingly proficient at investing his slight, improbable story with power and resonance. The issues may be tritely resolved - only a miracle allows us a final encore of the Warsaw Concerto - but in taking the myth of the great artist and subordinating it to the more immediately relevant one of the do-or-die fighter-pilot hero, Hurst conjures up a satisfying concoction of fantasy and propaganda.Author: RMy

- Posted on May 28 2011 21:47 It has been mentioned that Sergei Rachmaninoff was involved in the background music of the film. It didn't pan out because, he either was demanding too much money when asked,.or he was refused when he offered his "services". Whatever the reasons, the studio wanted someone to compose the musical soundtrack in the manner of Rachmaninoff and they went to Richard Addinsell. He did it, and one could swear Rachmaninoff wrote the Warsaw Concerto! The film industry certainly had geniuses at work.
