Day of the Wacko (2002)
Director: Marek Koterski
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
In this dolefully absurdist Polish comedy of dejection and rejection, Adam (Kondrat) is a middle-aged teacher, divorced, depressed and a world class obsessive-compulsive. His strict daily regimen is planned right down to the number of toilet tissues he needs; even sitting down on a sofa involves an elaborate testicle-tucking ritual. Unhappily the outside world is a source of constant frustration - the noise pollution alone could drive a man to mania. Brief fantasy sequences give Adam a more complex innerlife than his own monologue suggests, without succumbing to whimsy. It's not exactly an uplifting experience, but you can see what writer/director Koterski is getting at.Author: TCh
