Death of a Cameraman (1978)
Director: Faliero Rosati
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Attempting dubious homage to his former mentor Antonioni, Rosati merely succeeds in evoking tinny echoes of The Passenger with this debut feature. His journalist in the desert is retracing with the aid of video equipment and a surviving tape the final journey through Sinai of a 10-years-dead cameraman colleague - whose surname just happens to be an anagram of his own. Such glibly suggestive 'profundity' props up a boringly arty succession of arid compositions and 'enigmatic' silences, betraying little more than a director with nothing to say.Author: PT
