Death Wish 4: The Crackdown (1987)
Director: J Lee Thompson
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
When his girlfriend's daughter dies of a coke overdose, semi-retired vigilante Bronson deals out some summary justice to the pusher who sold the stuff. Shortly afterwards, he is summoned by businessman Ryan, who encourages Old Stone Face to take on the gang controlling 90 percent of the LA drugs trade. Director Thompson ignores the thick-ear dialogue and wooden acting, and blows up every car and building in sight. Gail Morgan Hickman's complicated script manages a couple of nice twists, but it's too formulary to pursue the ambiguities it reveals. Most enjoyable is the clear thread of self-parody, which keeps the laughs and bullets coming thick and fast.Author: NF
