Le Dernier Milliardaire (1934)
Director: René Clair
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Turning his patrician gaze for a moment on the real world (in the squalid aftermath of the Stavisky affair), Clair characteristically set this comedy on political chicanery in a Mediterranean Ruritania of Monte Carlo dimensions. Feeble as satire, and only occasionally amusing, it can best be described as a cross between The Merry Widow (without Lehar) and Duck Soup (without the Marx Brothers).Author: GAd
