The Desert Fox (1951)
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Considered daring at the time for its sympathetic view of a World War II enemy general as tragic hero. A whitewashed Rommel, returning to Germany disillusioned after the African defeat, becomes involved in the abortive Operation Valkyrie plot to assassinate Hitler, and opts for suicide rather than stand trial. Not really persuasive, despite careful performances and the journalistic flair of Hathaway's direction.Author: TM
