From Time Out Film Guide

This TV cut of Salvadori's Les Marchands de Sable - a tortuous thriller charting a barman and a girl's search for the killer of the latter's brother, set among drug dealers, petty thieves and protection racketeers in modern Paris - benefits from a running time so short the plot turns skeletal and feels like quasi-abstract play with genre tropes. No depth of meaning or characterisation, but the script avoids modishness while delivering plenty of surprises, ironic twists and pleasurable moments.
