Doing Time for Patsy Cline (1996)
Director: Chris Kennedy
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Ralph (Day), a teenager, dreams of leaving the Australian outback and seeking fame in Nashville. Hitching to Sydney, with his guitar under his arm, he's picked up by the flamboyant Boyd (Roxburgh) and his girl Patsy (Otto), and yep, you guessed, an adventure of an entirely different nature begins. Ralph falls in love with the pallid, breathy Patsy, while being dragged into Boyd's tangle of lies and crime. It's a slight affair, retreading familiar territory, albeit against the photogenic Australian skyline, with the help of a handful of country tunes. Otto and Roxburgh do their own singing, which in Otto's case is fine.Author: FM
