Movie review

From Time Out Film Guide

An occasionally engaging Brazilian comedy, taken from a novel by Jorge Amado, about a woman whose irresponsible husband Vadinho drops dead dancing in a carnival. She subsequently remarries the respectable but, alas, not-so-sexy pharmacist Teodoro. The comedy format allows a neat reconciliation of her conflicting urges for sex and security: she simply calls up Vadinho as a ghost, and lives happily with both husbands. Unfortunately, the film tries to get it both ways too, by marrying arty satire with Carry On innuendo.
