Oh! Calcutta! (1972)
Director: Jacques Levy
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
An unqualified disaster, repudiated by Kenneth Tynan as a travesty of his censor-challenging stage revue. Sketches contributed by Jules Feiffer, John Lennon, Robert Benton and Sam Shepard, among others, are staged by Levy on a stage, complete with canned audience reactions; and one watches in bemusement and mounting boredom as theatrical timing and delivery kill what little wit there is. Even worse are the 'opened out' passages where the cast coyly assemble in the nude by a lake, there to prance amid the pastoral scene.Author: TM
