Maybe it's pre-wedding jitters, but lately Katrine just can't tell the truth. After only a couple of reels, the bride-to-be has lied to her institutionalised sister, her boyish fiancé, and her sister's charming but irresponsible ex. This Dogme-certified farce doesn't suggest Lars von Trier so much as Lukas Moodysson (pre-Lilya 4-Ever) in its light-fingered hold on sprightly comic incident - director Arthy takes frothy delight in assorted hens and stags making sozzled spectacles of themselves - and empathic characterisations of damaged and deeply flawed folk. Acutely observed and vividly performed, the film indulges in whimsical flights, but doesn't strain to ingratiate itself. When queen of the cock-up Katrine declares, 'I am simply Denmark's biggest asshole,' we're left plenty of room to agree. JWin.Author: JWin
