Over the Brooklyn Bridge (1983)
Director: Menahem Golan
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
From the deep end of Gould's career decline, this is the tale of Alby, a small-time Jewish café owner who dreams of becoming a Manhattan restaurateur. The only means of achieving this, a loan from his uncle (Caesar), seems unavailable as long as Alby persists in his long-term affair with Catholic Elizabeth (Hemingway). A tasteless snack from the Golan/Globus greasy-spoon on a street later visited to much greater effect by Joan Micklin Silver in Crossing Delancey.Author: DO
