Fast Forward (1984)
Director: Sidney Poitier
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Wish fulfilment on a grandiose scale with the cotton candy saga of eight alarmingly attractive teenagers from Ohio. Convinced of their own dance talents, they storm the Big Apple, and in a mere three weeks have the rock world knocked for a loop. Poitier's direction is earnest, and the four-square camerawork comes from someone who never heard of Bob Fosse. Still, there is some high energy performing going on - notably from Franklin, a proud and sexy black who could go far. It's all too sanitised, and has nothing to do with rock reality, but it's always fun to see the underdog triumph over the moguls.Author: AR
