Director: Angela Hans Schierl, Dietmar Schipek, Ursula Pürrer
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
It's safe to say that this apocalyptic lesbian fantasy is one of a kind, but that's as far as it goes. Set in 2700 in the mouldering city of Asche, it chronicles the star-crossed amours of a group of women: Volley (Pürrer), a roller-skating pyromaniac; her plastic-suited, possibly extraterrestrial lover Nun (Schierl); and Spy (Heilmayr), a comics artist who vows revenge on Volley for burning down her printing press. There's little coherent narrative; the directors are more concerned with elaborating a wild and woolly style, comprising daft decor, lurid colours and free-floating camerawork. They merrily cut corners with the futurism, knocking up a passable Alphaville world from table-top Meccano and leaving the rest to creaky stop-motion animation. Despite oddball gags seemingly beamed in from another dimension, the feel is leadenly Teutonic.Author: JRo
