Follow That Dream (1962)
Director: Gordon Douglas
Movie review
From Time Out Film Guide
Presley made 33 films, and at least 30 were considered duds by the critics. However, they all made money, and they're still a fixture on TV. Here, he's a homeless army veteran who heads south to Florida with his father and four orphans (songs include 'Home Is Where the Heart Is'). Opportunities for sneering and hip-swivelling are limited. One of Hollywood's most celebrated (and cynical) screenwriters, Charles Lederer, provided the script (from the novel Pioneer Go Home by Richard Powell), but it's such a feeble, mawkish affair that you half suspect he wrote it tongue-in-cheek. Or perhaps he thought Perry Como was the star.Author: GM
